Why don't i start listening to myself for a change?

Stopping after eating one peanut is hard but listening to your own advice is harder.

Why don't i start listening to myself for a change?

I tell people to chase their passion but i've always been too afraid to pursue mine, I always tell my brother to study yet i don't even bother reading any of my textbooks, I tell my best friend to know her worth but i never take the time to know mine. It seems like i never listen to what i have to say.

Does that make me a hypocrite? or a fraud perhaps? Nope, It just makes me human.

Let's be honest, I'm sure you have given some advice to someone, knowing that you, yourself, won't do if you were placed in the same situation.

I've heard too many stories of smokers telling other people to stop smoking, alcoholics telling their children not to drink and the list just goes on and on.

As the famous saying goes "Easier to be said than done". It's easy to tell people to forget the past, to say that life goes on or to tell people to stop mourning for someone they lost. There is no difficulty in giving an advice. anyone can give out recommendations, anyone can tell you what to do, anyone can talk about such-and-such but to talk about it and to do it are two very different things.

The thing is, most of the time, we know perfectly well what to dobut out of some unexplainable reason we don’t do it. Let's take for example, a friend of mine (I'm not going to mention her name). She always tells me to wait for someone who will treat me well but right now, she's head-over-heels for a guy who treats her like crap. Obviously, she knows what to do, but does she do it? Naah. Yet nobody can blame her since most of us have probably been in the same situation a few times already and even if we knew exactly what to do, we ignored it, didn't we?

WHY? I don't know.

Maybe it's because our emotions, our desires, our fears, our doubt in ourselves cloud our judgement. There are too many factors that spoils it for us.

I'm not gonna start writing words of wisdom here on how to start listening to your own advice because the truth is, I have absolutely NO idea.

All i know is that somehow, we need to start listening to our own voice.
